Plastisol Ink

SPSI offers a complete range of plastisol inks, the most widely used ink system in the garment printing industry. Known for their versatility and ease of use, plastisol inks deliver consistent, high-quality results across a wide range of textile applications.

Plastisol inks sit on top of the fabric and do not dry until heat cured, allowing for extended working time and reliable performance on press. They provide excellent opacity on dark garments, strong adhesion, and durable prints on t-shirts, athletic wear, hoodies, heat transfers, and more.

We proudly carry trusted brands such as International Coatings, Rutland, Union, and other industry leading partners.

Choosing a plastisol ink

Start with the white: it is 60-70% of most shops' ink spend. A cotton-only shop can run a bright, cheap cotton white; anyone printing blends or polyester needs a low-bleed white with blockers - that is what stops dye migration on red poly.

For colors, decide between mixing systems and stock colors. A Pantone mixing system (Union Mixopake, IC 7500) pays off once you match more than a few PMS colors a month; stock colors are cheaper per gallon if you run the same palette all year.

All plastisol cures at 320F through the full ink film - verify with a donut probe, not the dryer dial. If ghosting or after-flash tack is costing you shirts, call the shop line: we answer.

Common questions

What is the difference between plastisol and water-based ink?

Plastisol sits on top of the fabric, prints opaque on darks, and does not dry in the screen. Water-based soaks into the fiber for a softer hand but needs more careful cure and mesh control. Most contract shops run plastisol for production and water-based for fashion work.

What temperature does plastisol ink cure at?

Full cure is 320F through the entire ink film - not just the surface. Verify with a donut probe or test washes; an under-cured print cracks and washes out.

Do you stock low-bleed white for polyester?

Yes - Rutland EL9760 Super Poly Plus and IC 7014 Legacy 2.0 FlexCure are both in stock in Maple Grove and Arlington, in gallons and 5-gallon pails.

Can I get Nazdar ink equivalents from SPSI?

We stock the equivalent Union, Rutland, and International Coatings lines for the common Nazdar series - call and we will match the exact ink.
